Straight-forward and easy to understand, this book provides a simple-to-follow "workout plan" to help you become emotionally fit.
Bergman provides step-by-step instructions on how to practice the four essential components of "Emotional Fitness Conditioning," with short self-assessment tests you can take to identify some areas on which you may need to concentrate.
Particularly helpful are the sections in the back of the book which outline strategies to use during each of the EFC components (including journal writing, physical activity and meditation), so the ideas expressed in the book can be put concretely to use, and so each individual can follow a program suited to his or her emotional needs, regardless of spiritual or ideological background.
The strategies are designed to be used either in a total self-help fashion, or in conjunction with therapy. And — in a welcome departure from some self-help resources on the market — the book doesn't promise to have the solutions for everything, identifying particular issues in which individuals should be sure to seek additional counseling help.
