Encyclopedia of Nutritional Supplements Encyclopedia of Nutritional Supplements

Michael T. Murray, N.D.

Paperback / Published 1996

Review:

With all the conflicting information on nutritional supplements and the growing trend toward natural healing, the Encyclopedia of Nutritional Supplements, by Michael T. Murray, N.D., is an excellent resource to have handy.

The book's primary focus is on vitamins and minerals, essential fatty acids, accessory nutrients, and glandular products. Each section lists the supplement, its food sources, deficiency signs and symptoms, recommended dietary allowance, beneficial effects, available forms, principle uses, dosage ranges, safety issues, interactions, and much more, making it easy to find exactly what you're looking for.

Murray, a naturopathic physician, and a leading writer on health in America, begins his book with "some practical recommendations," which I immediately incorporated into my diet. He takes a lot of scientific information and arranges it so you are able to filter through the material, make your own judgments, and take from it what you need. There is also a quick reference guide for specific health conditions from acne, to impotence, to varicose veins, which alone makes this book worth purchasing.

The Encyclopedia of Nutritional Supplements can tell you how to live longer, fight the effects of aging, and prevent cancer. Whether you're a nutrient novice, or a vitamin connoisseur, you will find information useful in your quest for optimum health.
